bring "CFI" to the practice field in order to transition to
the playing field
CFI stands for Concentration, Focus, and Intensity.
ConcentrationFirst, we ask our scholarly athletes to Concentrate:
When you mentally concentrate on a task, your able to fully indulge all your efforts in it. As we give tasks during our workouts, we ask our scholarly athletes to fully concentrate on the task at hand. By giving your undivided attention to the drill, you will increase your skill level each and everyday. |
FocusSecond, we ask our scholarly athletes to Focus:
After our athletes have mastered to concentrate on the movements we are asking them to do, the next step is asking our athletes to focus on the details of the movements. For example, when dribbling a basketball while moving, we challenge our scholarly athletes to focus in on the sounds of the basketball hitting the court. The basketball hitting the court creates a rhythm, which helps the timing of the athletes movement. |
IntensityLastly, we ask our scholarly athletes to bring the Intensity:
As our athletes become more comfortable with drills, we will then ask them to increase their intensity. We challenge our athletes to "stay uncomfortable". Being uncomfortable means more room to grow on the playing field. The more our athletes practice outside of their comfort zone, the better they will become, and the more confident they will become. During an exhibition, our athletes will be prepared to transition these skills because they practiced outside their comfort zone at a high intensity rate. |
